Protesting against the delay in admission to Delhi University’s Faculty of Law,aspiring law students and members of the ABVP on Monday threw out furniture from the Dean’s office and locked it.
Delhi University Students Union President Satender Awana called for a “seizure” of the faculty.
“If they cannot stand for the students, then there will be no classes at the law faculty.Students are waiting for admissions and the university is not doing anything,” said Satender Awana to Indian Express.
The protest was called a day after reports surfaced on the recommendation by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to reduce the number of seats for admission to the 2016-17 batch for LLB at the three law centres. Classes are yet to begin as the faculty postponed the notification of lists for counselling, after the Delhi High Court held that admissions to the 2016-17 batch will not be allowed without the BCI’s approval.
