University of Delhi and IIT Delhi are the only two institutes to figure in the world’s top 200 universities compared to 49 from USA,30 from United Kingdom,11 from Germany and eight each from China and Australia.
The study was conducted by ASSOCHAM and Yes Institute.
“The top talent goes to developed countries for studying, research and contributing intellectual capital as well as economic value to other countries. An estimated six lakh Indian students are studying abroad, spending over USD 20 billion annually,” the study said.
Only 16% of Indian firms carries out any in-firm training themselves against 80% of Chinese firms conducting in house training activities.
The report also mentioned that India’s higher education sector is facing many challenges such as low employment rate,lack of research and limited scope of innovation and entrepreneurship.
