After due concern being given to Kashmir, the vice-chancellor of Delhi University Yogesh Tyagi has announced to reward any student with Rs, 1 lakh, who does quality research on Kashmir and its culture and publishes a paper.
Recently, Delhi University organized its first Kashmiri folk music event “Meeras-e-Kashmir” where Tyagi along with former Rajya Sabha member Karan Singh and JNU Professor Amitabh Mattoo were chief guests. While addressing the crowd, Tyagi made this announcement after remarks by the chief guest on never giving up one’s culture because it drives us towards our potential, irrespective of the violence and corruption.
Emphasis on diversity and inclusiveness of Indian Culture was highlighted, and how we are moving towards exclusivism mode leading to the collapse of our rich culture. The recovery of pluralism is the recovery of Meeras-e-Kashmir, which is the base foundation of Indian culture.
