The whole process will be outsourced to a third party for which a tender has already been released calling for bids. This decision will however delay the whole admission process by at least a month owing to the fact that such crucial decision has been taken at the last moment.
Entrance exams will take place in 18 cities this year. The registration process for Post Graduate and Research courses like M Phil and PhD usually starts in the month of April but this time around it can’t begin before May since the last date of submitting the bids is 26th April 2017.
The university earlier confirmed that admissions to Under Graduate courses will take place just like last year. The online entrance exam also applies to UG courses such as B.El.Ed,BA (Hons) and B Tech course offered at Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) and Joint Admission Test (JAT) which is a common entrance exam for admission to courses like Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS),Bachelor of Business Economics (BBE) and Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis (BFIA).
“There is a delay in the application process, but admissions will be conducted on time as online tests can be completed in three to four days. The application process can be announced in the first week of May” said a senior official at the examination branch.
“This will bring in transparency. Moreover, this process will also increase the reach as instead of five cities, the entrance tests will be conducted across at least 18 cities” he added.
According to initial reports, the entrance exam will consist of multiple choice questions and would be of 2 hours duration.Every day the tests would be conducted in three shifts between 8 AM and 6 PM.
The organisation which will get the contract of conducting the whole process would also be required to make facilitation centres for the candidates to familiarise them with the testing conditions. These centres shall become operative from at least a month in advance leading to the actual exam. For every 10,000 applicants there would be at least one facilitation centre.
