The admission process for Delhi University UG, PG courses have already begun. As per the latest updates regarding the procedure, several students seeking admission under the Other backward classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories are facing troubles with the process.
The respective candidates are unable to get their attested certificates verified under their eligibility for the seats under the categories mentioned above. As per the guidelines, attested certificates that are issued on or after March 31, 2020, are compulsory for guaranteed admission.
However, due to the COVID-19 issue, both government and non-government officials are forced to remain away. As a result, the students are not able to get the newly issued certificates. Thus, several aspirants seeking admissions under the OBC category or any other category could not get an updated certificate issued this year. Moreover, many candidates do not have access to the internet to apply online. Similar issues are being faced by the EWS category students as well.
Regarding the situation, DU’s SC, ST, and OBC teachers’ association on Tuesday have also written to the DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Tyagi that candidates be admitted upon furnishing a self-declaration and a previously issued certificate. It has been citing that many students will not be able to apply for new certificates online.
Thus, the administration has stated that the aspirants can upload their acknowledgment slips of certificate applications for the time being and then produce the certificates at the time of admission. The administration has also stated that students apply online for the new certificates while uploading the application slip. The university has said that it would help the students in case more time is needed to upload the certificates.
