DU-JAT is around the corner and aspiring students are pulling up their socks. So, read on to know the best strategy to crack this exam and join your dream institution, the University of Delhi (DU).
Delhi University Joint Admission Test or DU-JAT is an entrance test conducted by the Delhi University for the admission to various courses. This year the test will be held on September 7. The students who aspire to pursue courses like Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis) (BBA FIA), Bachelor’s in Business Economics (BBE) and various BA (Honours) courses must give the examination. Candidates are selected on a combined score which includes both class 12th results and DU-JAT scores.
The exam is divided into four segments- quantitative ability, reasoning and analytical ability, general English as well as business and general awareness; all of which add to the total of 100 questions. The candidate is marked with a positive score of 4 for every correct answer and a negative score of 1 for every wrong answer.
The exam is crucial for serious aspirants. So, here is a detailed section-wise strategy one should follow to outvie their competition.
Business Awareness and General Affairs
To solve this section, one must have a grasp over concepts and fair general knowledge. For that, sufficient reading is a must. The entire section should be brushed up in not more than 7-10 minutes so that you can save up more time for other time-consuming questions.
Reasoning and Analytic Ability
Regular practice papers and topic tests are available online, subsequently one should make use of them to crack this section. It is the most scoring section and attempting as many questions as you can be the approach. There are several patterns that you may encounter in this section related to coding and decoding, which would help in solving a lot of questions. Practice and only practice is going to help you with this.
This is a precarious section of the examination. One must take time doing this part. To do it, you should have a good hold over basic concepts. Read all the questions and scan the easier and direct ones. Try to solve them first. You should set a minimum target of questions that should be correct in this section. You must go for only those questions that you’re certain about. Keep in mind that there’s a negative marking scheme too.
You might find it to be the easiest section. Practising just one topic test dedicated exclusively to this section of DU-JAT is sufficient for you to have a good hold over it.
The first step to start with DU-JAT preparation must be solving previous years tests. If you find difficulties in solving the questions on time, you must set a time limit while doing the practice paper. Precisely, you should also set a time limit for each section of the exam so that you don’t run out of time in the end. Begin the exam with the section that you find the easiest and attempt the most difficult part at the end. While attempting the paper, don’t remain stuck on a difficult question; move ahead if that happens. While solving difficult questions, elimination method can help. Use the hit and trial method and eliminate the wrong answers and reach to the right one.
It’s important to remember that each question has equal weightage so, don’t get stuck on one; move on. Best of Luck!
