Stepping into college can be exciting as well as intimidating. There are tons of things that we worry about as freshers. Luckily, ragging doesn’t have to be one.As another batch of young students begin their journey tomorrow at DU, officials from the university, DTC, Metro and Police held a meeting to ensure that existing anti-ragging policies are adopted fully.
The anti-ragging affidavit we all signed at the time of our admission is not just a piece of paper. Any student violating the terms of this document can be legally punished and even suspended from the college. Cancellation of your degree in such a case would not be unusual either.
Besides, certain areas in the campus marked as ‘sensitive’ have been put under surveillance.
DU has decided to set up joint-control rooms, one in each North and South Campus, from 20th July 2019 to 27th July 2019. Help and assistance can be sought through the helpline numbers, 011-27667221 for North Campus and 011-24119832 for South Campus.
Each college, hostel or faculty is to form an anti-ragging committee and vigilance squad.
If a student still feels threatened, he/she can simply drop a written complaint in one of the complaint boxes placed in each college, or call the anti-ragging helpline which is 1801805522 .
We hope that these measures prove useful in ensuring that your time at DU is nothing but an opportunity to learn and have fun.
