History of Indian cricket is a proof that the BCCI has always backed its players strongly in each and every controversial case. But, the recent DRS fuss, that has now become a matter of pride for Virat Kohli, sings another song.
When Steven Smith was accused of asking for help from the dressing room while being on the field, the cricket boards of both India and Australia started a verbal war.The Australian captain when questioned about the same, called it a ‘brain fade moment’ and tried to escape the punishments. Virat Kohli clashed with the Australian captain. The Board of Cricket Control in India lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council seeking to save the character of the Indian Captain.
In a press conference just after this altercation, Virat Kohli gave rise to a new debate by saying that it was not the first time that the Aussies have done so.The Australian media showered rage for the Indian cricketer and reached to the extent of calling him the Trump of cricket world.
As the matter heated, BCCI was expected to take some serious actions against the cricket board of Australia. But unexpectedly, it withdrew the complaint that was registered with the ICC.
In a statement issued by the Indian cricket board, they justified their action of taking the complaint back by saying that this matter could be solved between the nations behind closed doors because they do not want the ongoing series or any other in future to be halted.
Now this was a surprise for a nation where cricket is considered a different religion and the players are worshiped as gods! Virat Kohli is one such deity for people. BCCI wants to solve the matter in a closed room that does not have Kohli in it. Smells like a new squabble in the making.
