The police, on Sunday, arrested five men, which also included a staff from IGNOU for leaking of question papers of MCA and BCA examinations, from the study centre at Bokaro in Jharkhand.
He said that the MCA third-semester exam was scheduled to be held on December 8, 2018 at 10 a.m. at all centers across the country and in Nepal. Before that, the police stated that on December 8, 2018, S.G. Swami, Registrar of IGNOU, Maidan Garhi in New Delhi, filed a complaint against the leakage of question paper.
Mr. Swami said that he received two emails from different IDs with attachment of question papers, where the senders claimed that the papers had already been leaked, the police said. ‚ÄúMr. Swami filed another complaint regarding the leakage of IGNOU BCA third-semester question paper, which was circulated through WhatsApp on the same day‚Äù, they said.
‚ÄúDuring investigation, approximately 500 suspects were interrogated. On the reports by the technical investigation committee, the main culprit a.k.a. the mastermind behind this racket, Dev Shankar, was arrested on Wednesday from IGNOU study centre, Bokaro Steel City‚Äù, reported Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) A.K. Singla.
Mr. Singla said that during interrogation, Shankar told them that that he worked as a peon in the IGNOU study centre, Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. He is said to have been working there for 13 years and hence had the keys of the study centre.
On seeing the staff departing, he quickly went inside the supervisor‚Äôs room and opened the cupboard where the question papers were kept. He opened the sealed envelope and captured them in his phone.
Apparently, he sold a question paper for ‚Çπ1,500 and has been in this business since June 2016. Currently, the police are interrogating them to identify their role in the present and other such similar cases.
