A woman journalist filed a complaint against Delhi Cantt. SHO,mentioning a police official molested her during the JNU protest march.
“An Indian Express reporter has complained to the Delhi Police that she was molested by an SHO. In her complaint, the reporter said that SHO Vidhyadhar Singh has pushed and placed his hand on reporter‚Äôs chest. The reporter also alleged that the inspector misbehaved with her and another reporter even after they identified themselves as journalists.” reported Indian Express.
Delhi Police has launched an enquiry into the matter.
A female photographer was also manhandled by a police woman during the protest. “They took my camera and did not return it. I told them I am from the media, but they were just pulling me away,” said the photographer.
Delhi Police ordered a lathi charge and fired water cannons on thousands of Jawaharlal Nehru University students and teachers near the INA market.
The JNU Teacher’s Union (JNUTU) and students marched to demand suspension of Professor Atul Johri,accused of sexual harassment by eight students in the University.Other issues which were a cause of the protest included the compulsory attendance rule and autonomy status granted to JNU recently.
