University of Delhi: The Dean of Residence of St. Stephen’s College has asked the students to vacate the rooms and remove their belongings from the Residence (hostel) within five days, beginning from Monday, June 29, 2020, at 10 AM to July 03, 2020. The choice for students to select their slots of vacating their rooms is open on the Academic Management Portal of the college’s website. The students will have to obtain an Exit Pass for security check; the final year students must show their college fee receipt for obtaining the same. Students, after having informed the administration can authorize a local guardian to collect their belongings.
This has, particularly, put the outstation students on a tightrope because of the increasingly alarming state of the pandemic in Delhi and in the country, elsewhere as well. The restrictive nature of the inter-state travel guidelines puts the students through health and financial constraints, not understating the cumbersome travel procedures that add to the weariness. The deadline also clashes with the date sheet for the Open Book Examinations (OBE) that commence from July 01, 2020.
The Students’ Union Society of the college has requested the administration to look into the concerns of the students and subsequently allow them to keep their belongings in the residence rooms. Students have emailed the dean of Residence regarding the same. While the Dean has replied with the urgency to complete the maintenance of the buildings, they have assured the students to look into their grievances.
